Year End Things

Good Afternoon Everyone:

I hope the first day of summer is treating you well. A real nice day out there for us all.

As we make our way toward the end of the school year, I would like to share a few events/requests and general information along to you. Here they are:

School Wide Events

* Thursday, June 22 @ 6:30 pm - Grade 8 Graduation. A real highlight of our school year. We have 56 extremely excited grade 8 students looking forward to grad tomorrow night. Our gym is looking great and the evening is all ready to honour the 10 years of elementary education these young ladies and men have completed.

* Monday, June 26 SWEET Day - (Super Wicked Epic Electives Time). We have had to postpone this fun afternoon of electives twice now. Hopefully weather will cooperate on Monday.

* Monday, June 26 - Final Achievement Report Cards will come home. Please read through the reports with your child(ren) and celebrate the excellent learning that has taken place. If you have any questions regarding the reports, please make contact with the teacher.

* Thursday, June 29 - Year End Mass @ Holy Spirit Church on Essa Road. 10:30 am Our students will be bussed to and from the Church. You are more than welcome to join us.

* Thursday, June 29 - To help celebrate Canada150, all next week, I will be sharing interesting and important facts about our nation during morning announcements. I will ask our students to wear our Canadian colours or clothing that represents Canada (could be a t-shirt from a trip to Nova Scotia)....on the last day of school.

* Thursday, June 29 - Year End Assembly at 2:00 pm. Reading Awards and other acknowledgements will be made.

* Thursday, June 29 - "Clap-Out". This has become a tradition here at St. Cat's. To wish our grade 8 graduates well, our entire student body lines the hallways of our school....and as our grade 8's leave for the final time and walk through all our hallways....we clap for them as they leave.

* Friday, June 30 - Professional Development Day - No classes for students.

* Tuesday, Sept. 5 - First Day of Classes 2017-2018 for students in grade SK - grade 8. Our JK students will receive a letter during the summer outlining their meeting date with the teacher and their first day of school.

- Please check out our website for the first day of school routines.....I will post it there by Aug. 25. I will also send out an E-blast to all our subscribers.

Requests:

* Please make arrangements with Mrs. Forgione or Mrs. Gibbons to pick up any medications that have been kept here in the office. We typically do not send those home with students (unless the child is older and that has been discussed and agreed to).

* If you know you are moving, please contact us to let us know. It is very helpful for us with our
planning. Thank you.

* Please encourage your child to check the "Lost and Found".....or please feel free to drop in to check for yourself. The items still here on June 30 will be given away to local agencies or thrown out (for instance ....1 shoe with no match).

That's it for now.....enjoy the rest of your week. Thanks.
