A Quick Update

Hello Everyone....

I hope this note finds you well.

A quick update on a number of things:

* Please visit our website for an overview of our school's latest Social Justice initiative....."Sleeping Children Around the World". Our kids take these projects on with a tremendous amount of compassion and pride. Our Catholic School Community Council has offered to match the number of "bedkits" purchased through student contributions up to $1000. This money was raised through Santa's Breakfast. Also as part of this campaign, classes will be involved in a "mannequin challenge"...each class will depict an act of kindness through this artistic endeavour. If you have time, join us tomorrow morning at 9:30 am to see our classes perform in the gymnasium. You are more than welcome.... it should be very good!

* Achievement Report Cards - these "1st term" reports will go home on Wednesday, Feb. 22 with all students. There has been some outstanding achievement done by our students...please celebrate your child(ren)'s accomplishments. If you questions or comments, please contact your child's teacher.

* Our intermediate girls' volleyball team won the Joan of Arc Invitational last evening. We have a tremendous number of excellent athletes in our school!

* Ash Wednesday - Our school will mark the beginning of Lent with an Ash Wednesday liturgy on March 1. Mr. McCracken's grade 6 class along with Mrs. Sponagle and Mrs. Seller's kindergartens will lead us. Please join us for the Paraliturgy at 9:15 am that day. All are welcome.

* Young Poets! - Our grade 1-3 students have been working in class on poetry. There will be a recital on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 11:10 am for selected students to perform in the gymnasium. Our youngest kids will demonstrate their excellent oratory and literacy skills for us all to enjoy! All are welcome to attend!

* Catholic School Community Council - Our next meeting will be held in our school library on Monday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 pm. All are welcome to attend.

* Grade 8 Parent Information Night - Monday, March 6 at 5:00 pm. This evening will be devoted to discussing the year end trip to Kamp Kandalore and graduation. Kandalore representatives will give an overview of their camp and we will also share information about our graduation ceremony.

* March Break - the traditional "spring break" will occur from March 13 - 17.

I believe that is it for now. Spring is right around the corner....let's enjoy the remaining weeks of Old Man Winter...it will make us appreciate the advent of spring that much more!

I will talk with you soon.
