Published on Nov 21, 2016 10:40

Good Monday Morning Everyone:

A frosty one today. It was good to see so many people here last week for Parent/Teacher interviews. Our students are doing well!

This week we celebrate an important theme of tolerance and acceptance. Our school goal of nurturing a school community where every child feels like they belong and are accepted continues to be emphasized. Our students will have an opportunity this week to show their support for acceptance and tolerance as we engage them in a number of "theme" days and discussions about treating people justly, kindly and with love. Here is an overview of our "Bullying Prevention" activities:

Mon. Nov 21st: HIGH-FIVE MONDAY!!

Staff/students will be encouraged to give each other ‘high-fives’ throughout the day to create a positive atmosphere. ALSO students will be given PINK anti-bullying bracelets to wear on Monday AND ALL WEEK. Parents cyber-bullying note/flyer will be sent home.

Tues., Nov. 22nd: PINK SHIRT DAY!!

Everyone is encouraged to wear PINK!! We will also be taking an anti-bullying pledge TOGETHER during morning announcements. This pledge can also be taken online at: www.thepledgetoendbullying.ca

Wed., Nov. 23rd: SPREAD THE LOVE

Everyone is encouraged to draw pictures/write letters/send texts of positive kind messages, inspirational words, compliments today.

Thurs. Nov. 24th: ONLINE PROMISE

Students are encouraged to think of a hashtag to represent a character trait about themselves online. OR students can also represent themselves positively in an emoji.  Student’s hashtags/emojis can be displayed in classrooms to remind them to keep their anti-bullying promises all year.

Friday, Nov. 25: Individual Class Activity

Classes can choose to an activity associated with acceptance/tolerance/kindness.

It should be a good week here! Please enjoy yours too.
