Student Safety

Good Morning Everyone....

It was great to see so many families at our Meet the Teacher night last evening. Kids love showing their classroom to mom and dad and introducing their teacher...it's great to see.

The purpose of this note is to bring attention to the importance of each of us making safe choices when driving our vehicles in and out of our parking lot in the morning and then again at dismissal. Unfortunately, in the past few weeks we have had people driving very fast, ignoring "No Exit" and "No Entry" signs clearly posted in our parking lot. These choices are dangerous for our students. The great majority of our community respect the posted rules and understand the dangers of driving fast while around children coming and going from our school; however, there are still instances where we are observing "U-turns" being made off Hawkins into the parking lot, cars leaving our lot onto Summerset Dr. during dismissal to avoid being behind our buses - all in an effort to save a few minutes.

I do not want this note to sound like a lecture as I know the majority of our parents/guardians respect the need for care and caution around our students. I am asking those people who are not respecting the posted signs to consider the tragedy associated with an accident and a child being harmed.

Thank you

Rich
