Good Day Everyone....

I hope this note finds you well.

A few things to share:

* Our first school Mass is occurring tomorrow here in our gymnasium. Mr. MacLeod's grade 8 class is leading us. Please feel welcome to join us. Our celebration will begin at 9:45 am.

* Our school's Terry Fox run is happening here tomorrow beginning with an assembly at 1:30 pm. Students have been learning about Terry's remarkable story - his "Marathon of Hope" in support of Cancer research. We appreciate your support of our school goal of raising $1000 from our run/walk. Thank you

* Friday, Sept. 27 is a Professional Development day. There are no classes for students.

* On Monday, Sept. 30 our students/staff have been asked to wear an orange shirt/clothing in recognition of Orange Shirt Day -an event started by Phyllis Wastad, now a grandmother, who has inspired others to acknowledge First Nations families who continue to deal with their residential school experiences of the past.

* We are looking forward to hosting our annual "Pizza-Que - Meet the Teacher" night next Thursday, Oct. 3 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm. We hope to see you there. Parents are welcome to tour the school, meet with your child(ren)'s teachers and see their learning space. Should be a good community night.

* It is great to see so many extra curricular sports beginning. Volleyball, cross country running and basketball are all beginning. I have no doubt our teams will represent our school very well!

* Our re-organization is now complete and we have all our classes settled in for what I believe will be another very good year for our community. I am really looking forward to this school year.....I believe 2019-2020 will be fantastic.

* Thank you for completing and returning the contact information sheet that was sent home Monday...it is essential that we have current contact information for each of our families. Our school board is implementing a new system that will allow our families to be contacted immediately if information is needed to be shared immediately. Thank you.

* Our first Catholic School Community Council (CSCC) meeting will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 9 at 6:30 pm. This an advisory parent group that meets approximately every 6 weeks throughout the school year. The establishment of the council will occur at our first meeting on the 9th. More information will be available at a booth in our foyer during our Pizza Que - Meet the Teacher evening. Please feel free to ask about the duties of the CSCC from a representative who will be at the info booth that evening.

That's it for now. Please enjoy the rest of your week.
