Mid April Update
Published on Apr 17, 2019 16:06

Good Afternoon Everyone:

Last Sunday, most of the Christian world marked Palm Sunday, and our entry into Holy Week, the holiest seven days in the calendar year. Tonight, at sunset, we will begin the days that are at the very heart of Holy Week—what the Church refers to as the “Paschal Triduum”.  In Latin, “Pascha” refers to both the Jewish Passover and Easter, and “Triduum” means “a three day period”. The Paschal Triduum is the three days which lead us to our celebration of Jesus’ Resurrection on Easter Sunday — and for the Church, they are all one massive celebration, all rolled into one … a single mystery, which is the mystery of God’s incredible love and mercy for humanity and all its' weakness.

On behalf of our staff, I would like to wish each of our families a joyful Easter weekend.

Here are a few updates as we begin to see some spring like weather:

* Our co-ed hockey team recently participated in the 2nd annual "Bob Ashton" Memorial Hockey tournament. Our girls and boys competed very hard and displayed outstanding skills and attitude en route to an undefeated record and winning the tournament for the second year in a row. Thank you to Mr. MacLeod, Mr. McParland and Mrs. Redding for organizing the team!

* Our Robotics team competed in a competition on April 3 that we hosted. Amazing problem solving and teamwork resulted in third place finish for our team out of 18 entries. A great result! Thank you to Mr. Giuliano for hosting the tournament and guiding our students in the competition.

* We are hosting our annual Dance-a thon on April 26. Should be a fun day of dancing and music for our kids. Details are being sent out soon.

* The feast of St. Catherine of Siena is being celebrated here on Monday, April 29. Staff are cooking a pasta lunch with fresh buns, a drink and a few cookies. All our kids will 'feast' together in the gymnasium in celebration of our namesake. Should be a great event.

* Our Kindergarten Information night is scheduled for Thursday, April 25 beginning at 6:30 pm. If you or anyone you know has a child born in 2015, they can register for kindergarten by calling Mrs. Forgione or Mrs. Gibbons.

* Our Easter Mass will be celebrated here at the school on Thursday, May 2 beginning at 9:30 am. You are more than welcome to join us.

Again, we wish you a joyful Easter weekend,

Rich
