Our School Year is Under Way!

The 2016-2017 School Year - Celebrating God's Family
Posted on 09/08/2016
The 2016-2017 school year is off to a fantastic start! On behalf of our staff and school board, I would like to extend a warm welcome back to all our families. To our new families, we are very pleased to have you join our school community.

Each year, our school board, The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board chooses a theme. Last year the theme was "Nurturing God's Family." Continuing on with this theme, this year's focus will be on "Celebrating God's Family." At St. Catherine of Siena Catholic School, we believe that our school community is like family. Each and every member is valued and every effort is made to make each person in our community feel like they belong.

This year, a number of activities will occur to "celebrate" our school family. Traditional events like monthly Masses, Pizza-Que, Santa's Breakfast and Catholic Education Week (April 30 - May 5) will once again occur. New this year, our staff plans to honour the theme of celebrating family by having a meal prepared for all our kids on the feast day of St. Catherine of Siena (April 29...we will have the meal on Friday, April 28)....what better way to celebrate than with food and friends!

Communication is extremely important in any community. I would ask that if you haven't subscribed to our school e-blasts to please do so. These emails are our major vehicle for sharing news about the happenings in our school.

The year ahead is looking very good. Our staff and I are looking forward to working closely with you to provide the kids with a rich learning experience.
