School Reorganization
Published on Sep 14, 2017 15:23

Dear Parents/Guardians:

The number of students who have registered at St. Catherine of Siena for the 2017-2018 school year has greatly exceeded projections given to us by our Planning Department - + 60 children. A number of classes are larger than the Ministry standard and need to be reduced in size. As a result, we are required to reorganize many classes in all divisions to meet Ministry approved class sizes. This is a positive move as our classes will have fewer kids and will allow for more individual attention for our students.

As a result of the school’s reorganization, approximately 125 children in the school will be changing classrooms or will have a new teacher. Letters will be sent home tonight with the students who are impacted. The changes will be implemented Friday afternoon....Sept. 15. Kids will begin in their new rooms on Monday, Sept. 18.

Three and a half new staffing positions have been created. For the positions that will be considered permanent, these positions will take up to two weeks to fill....as the Board's hiring process requires this length of time. In the meanwhile, itinerant teachers will be in place. Also, as a result of the reorganization, some staffing assignments have been changed to accommodate the increased enrollment.

We appreciate your understanding as we make these necessary changes.

Thank you.

Rich
