The Parking Lot @ School

Good Friday Morning Everyone:

It's a great time of the year. Temperatures are rising and days are getting longer -  makes us all have an additional kick to our steps.

In a continuing effort to make our school day entry and end of day dismissal routines more safe for our students and for all our community members, I am asking for the following from all our community members:

* No Parking on the "Island".  The island is the raised concrete between the bus route (the lane closest to the school) and the lane parallel.

The size of our school has been decreasing from its' height 10 years ago when we had 700+ students and 60 staff members. With this reduction, the number of parking spaces in our lot is adequate for staff and some 'visiting' vehicles. The "island" is no longer needed for parking.

Many of you that were here this morning may have noticed that we began this expectation and it was met with a positive response as sight lines are dramatically improved....especially when our busses are here. As I wrote to you earlier this year, it is imperative that cars drive slowly while in the parking lot, that we do not enter the lot from Hawkins (it is an exit only) and that while busses are coming and going - they have the 'right of way'.

I recognize that in the morning or at the end of the day people have busy and hectic schedules....but we need to be vigilant about how we drive - cautious low speed,  parking in appropriate spaces and patience for the congestion when busses/kids/parents/staff are all coming and going. I appreciate everyone's efforts in this request.

Thank you.

Have a great weekend.
