A Blessed Easter

Good Morning Everyone:

A few events of interest to share:

A very interesting and information series of workshops will be presented to our grade 7 and 8 students over the next few weeks. On April 21 our grade 7's will be provided with the opportunity to learn about their brains and "growth mindset"....the presentation is entitled "Brain Wave". Our grade 8's will be involved in this same workshop on May 5. Studying the adolescent brain is always interesting!

Our annual "Dance-a-thon" will be held on April 27. Kids always enjoy their time in the gymnasium dancing along with the DJ! This year's theme is "Super Heroes".

Also on April 27, we will be hosting a "Kindergarten Information Evening" at 6:30 pm for families who will have a child in Junior Kindergarten next year. The excitement and enthusiasm these young families bring to our school is contagious....always a special night. If you know of anyone whose child is of school age, please let them know that our Kindergarten Registration is well underway. Thanks.

The Feast Day of our school's namesake, St. Catherine of Siena, is April 29. To commemorate this occasion and Catholic education Week (see below), our staff plans to feed all of our students a pasta lunch on April 28 - the feast day falls on a Saturday this year. A delicious "pasta al forno" dish along with a fresh bun will be provided for all the kids. We will gather in the gymnasium and have three "sittings" for lunch as we have far too many kids to all eat together. More information will be sent home next week. Should be a great undertaking!

Catholic Education Week will be held from April 30 - May 5. This year's theme is "Walking Forward Together." A few special events are planned to mark this special week to show our appreciation of the gift of a catholic Education. Our grade 6,7 and 8 students will join the students of St. Joan of Arc, St. Bernadette, The Good Shepherd and St. Nicholas at JOA for a Provincial outdoor Mass. Our school will also participate in a "Social Justice Walk" through our neighbourhood to display the many great things happening in our school.

Our next (and last) Catholic School Community Council meeting will be held on Monday, May 8 at 6:30 pm.

Lots going on over these next few months....let's enjoy all the activity the spring offers. On behalf of our staff, I would like to wish each member of our community a very blessed Easter.
