End of March Update

Good Day Everyone:

It's been nice to see the longer days and blue skies recently....spring is around the corner.

Here is some school news and upcoming events:

* Congratulations to our Intermediate Girls' Volleyball team! Our kids won the regional playoffs in late February and qualified for the Simcoe County Championships. After some tremendous play, our team won the bronze medal - placing in third pace! With over 140 teams competing in Elementary Volleyball in our county, the third place finish is an incredible result! Congratulations to our students and Mr. Rankin and Mrs. Grange on this outstanding achievement!

* Our school is hosting 16 schools for a "Robotics" tournament all day on Wednesday, April 3. This event continues our school's push to incorporate technology in the classroom and outside it. Our school has a "house league" with upwards of 50 students in the intermediate division who are learning about coding. A huge thank you to Mr. Giuliano who is leading this initiative.

* This Friday, March 29 our school is running another SWEET day (super wicked epic electives day). Kids in grades 1 - 8 will have an opportunity to choose an elective activity to have fun with....hiking, checkers, cooking and a number of other activities are available to the kids.

* On Thursday, March 28 our co-ed hockey team will participate in a "Memorial Tournament" hosted by St. John Paul School at the Holly Rec. center. Our school team is the defending champion and we look forward to defending our title!

* Good Friday (April 19) and Easter Monday (April 22) - no classes for students. Our Easter Mass is scheduled for Thursday, May 2 at 9:30 am here at the school.

* Our annual "Dance-a-thon" is scheduled for Friday, April 26.

* Our school's namesake, Catherine of Siena and her feast day will be celebrated once again in our school community! On Monday, April 29 our staff and some parent volunteers will cook a delicious pasta lunch for all of our 550 students...that's a lot of pasta! More details will be shared as we get closer to the event!

Let's enjoy the spring....
