Good Afternoon Everyone:

I hope this note finds you all well. Here are some updates and reminders as we move toward May:

* Our pizza and milk orders for May and June are due to the office tomorrow, April 20.

* Also tomorrow is our most anticipated "Dance-a-thon". Thank you for your support. The theme is "Canadian Icons". Kids are more than welcome to dress up as one of their favourite Canadians! Here is the schedule for classes to dance:

9:15 - 10:15 - Grades 5-6
10:15 - 10:50 - Kindergarten
11:10 - 11:50 - Grades 1-2
11:50 - 12:30 - Grades 3-4
1:30 - 2:10 - Grade 7
2:10 - 2:50 - Grade 8

* Our St. Catherine of Siena "feast day" celebration will happen on Thursday, April 26. We will serve each student a pasta lunch (meat sauce or non meat sauce - student's choice) along with a fresh Fox's dinner roll, a juice box and a couple of cookies. So, no need to pack a lunch for the kids next Thursday!

* Our Kindergarten Information night for parents of students beginning kindergarten in the fall will be held Thursday, April 26 at 6:00 pm. If you know families that have kids who will be 4 in 2018, please let them know that kindergarten registration is well underway.

* Friday, April 27 is a Professional Development day. No classes for students.

* Students in grades 6, 7 & 8 will attend Mass at St. Joan of Arc on May 1. Weather permitting, our students will walk to JOA at approximately 9:10 am. Mass will be outdoors if the weather cooperates....otherwise it will be held in the gymnasium. Students will be served lunch following. This event is known as Provincial Mass Day and is part of Catholic Education Week celebrations. All JOA feeder schools will be in attendance.

* Our school will be hosting a "Robotics" competition on May 2. 48 students from schools throughout our board will be in attendance. Our school will also be competing. Very interesting....please feel free to drop into the library that day to see the action!

* Our next (and last) Catholic School Community Council meeting will be held on Monday, May 7 beginning at 6:30 pm. The meeting will be held in our library.

* Our school will be home to a Scholastic Book Fair from May 8 through May 11. More detail will come home as we get closer to May 8.

* Our grade 4, 5 & 6 students will assemble to watch a play entitled "The Secret Life of Riley K" in our school gymnasium on May 10 at 1:45 pm. The play is designed to discuss with kids the issues associated with mental well-being with a special focus on "Anxiety". Please feel free to join us for the presentation if you have the time.

* Staff members Mrs. Biemann and Mrs. Redding are away from work for the next month for medical reasons. Both will return to us later in May. In the meantime, Mrs. St. Louis will work in the grade 1 class for Mrs. Biemann and Mrs. Supino will work in the kindergarten class for Mrs. Redding. Welcome both to Mrs. Supino and Mrs. St. Louis.

* Our boys and girls junior basketball teams are enjoying their seasons. Our Battle of the Books team is gearing up for their competition on May 1st (we are the defending City Champs!!). House league soccer meets each week as does house league ball hockey fro grades 2 & 3 boys and girls. Lots of fantastic action!

That's it for now......hopefully this snow goes away soon so that we can enjoy the warmth of spring!
